Universities Unveiled: National Day of Universities 2025

Dear Humanitas University Faculty, Students and Staff,

today we celebrate the National Day of Universities, an opportunity to recognise the close ties between universities and their local communities, and a chance to foster greater awareness, sustainability, and inclusivity within society.

Humanitas University, a young and growing institution, with a unique connection between IRCCS Istituto Clinico Humanitas and biomedical research activities, is proud to contribute to this mission.

This year’s theme, Universities Unveiled, encourages us to go beyond the traditional role of universities: not just centers of education and research, or incubators of talent, but true drivers of development for the wider community – catalysts for growth and innovation through strong ties with local citizens and institutions.

Every day, we commit to engaging with the community through various social responsibility initiatives, such as the creation of a sustainable and low-impact campus, collaborations with local high schools, partnerships with the Women’s Anti-Violence Network associations of Pieve Emanuele and Rozzano, as well as outreach and public engagementactivitiesinvolving our Faculty.

My sincere thanks go to all those who help make this synergy a reality every day: our faculty, students, and the entire university community. A special thanks also to the Conference of Italian University Rectors and the National Association of Italian Municipalities, whose work fosters ever-closer dialogue between universities and local administrations, helping to make our communities more resilient and vibrant.

Happy National University Day!

Prof. Luigi Maria Terracciano
Rector of Humanitas University
