Humanitas University is established


The Ministry of Education, University and Research gives the green light to the foundation of a university dedicated to the Medical Sciences. International context, innovative teaching methods, tight integration with clinical practice and scientific research, economic independence: these are the pillars of the educational offer.

Rozzano, June 23, 2014 – The authorization process for the foundation of Humanitas University, a new private academic institution dedicated to Medical Sciences, closely linked to the identity of Humanitas Hospital in Milan and its Research Foundation has been finalized . The Decree ratifying the establishment of the University was published in the issue n. 141 of the Gazzetta Ufficiale della Repubblica Italiana on 20th June 2014.

Fully underway, Humanitas University will host 800 students. In the initial phase of activity, Humanitas University will offer two degree courses: The six-year Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery ( in English) and the Bachelor Degree in Nursing (in Italian). Later on, a wide range of courses will be added, ranging from undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral programmes, specialization schools and other training opportunities.

The establishment of the new University strengthens Humanitas’ over 18-year commitment to medical research, assistance  and teaching, in line with the world’s major general hospitals, where clinical governance, research and training in fact coincide.
