Humanitas University celebrates the first National University Day

Dear all,

In my first year as Rector of Humanitas University, today’s celebration of the first National Universities Day represents an opportunity to recall the lines that define the strategy and daily life of our university.

The beating heart of Humanitas University, the Life Sciences sector, is driven by the development of an interprofessional culture characterised by a strong integration between Training, Research, Hospital Clinics and by a close link with the Medical Humanities, the relational and communication skills of those who work in the training of the health professions, including ethical issues in this area.

Humanitas University is, first and foremost, a place of encounters and peace for all, founded on a sense of compassion towards every individual, with a view to alleviating the suffering of each human being. A complex challenge, also an environmental one, in a controversial and difficult world.

This mechanism is also ensured, of course, by the creation of innovative training programs and pathways, and by the new skills from that professionals bring back after their experience abroad. We thus offer our students the opportunity to grow in a stimulating environment, in a multicultural and technologically advanced context: proof of this is the recent inauguration of the ‘Roberto Rocca Innovation Building’.

Looking to the future, our priority objectives include expanding internationalisation opportunities for both the students and the faculty, and further developing topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Global Health. Finally, on this special day, I would like to recall that a series of training events about emergency medicine on the war fronts will soon be held at our university; we will soon unveil the details.

Kind regards,

Luigi Maria Terracciano
