Clinical activities
Angela Ceribelli developed specific clinical skills in the functional and instrumental management of rheumatic patients, such as the use of biologic therapies in arthritis patients (she is in charge of the Psoriatic Arthritis Clinic in Humanitas), the active participation to several clinical trials (from Phase II to Phase IV) for new biotechnological treatments and novel diagnostic tools in rheumatic diseases, the use of videocapillaroscopy in patients affected by Raynaud’s phenomenon and systemic sclerosis, and joint injections in osteoarthritis patients.
Angela Ceribelli basic and clinical skills are also applied in the academic field in which she is involved for semeiotic courses on the rheumatologic physical examination for connective tissue diseases and arthritis management.
Prizes and awards
- 2012 Gerry Scotti award for young researchers at IRCCS Istituto Clinico Humanitas, Rozzano (MI)
- 2015 Principal Investigator and winner of the Young Investigator Award- Fondazione Lilly- title “Aging, epigenetic drift and chronic inflammation in monozygotic twins: a longitudinal cohort study on psoriatic disease”
- 2020 Principal Investigator Progetto Giovani Ricercatori- Bando Ricerca Finalizzata 2019- title “Immuno-based Profiling of knEe OA patients to predict reSponse to regenerative treatment (IMPRESA)”
Angela Ceribelli published more than 30 scientific articles dedicated to autoantibodies research, one of her main fields of research. Her interest on this topic brought Angela Ceribelli to work as post-doctoral associate for a period of over 2 years in the USA, to perform basic research on new and rare autoantibodies in various systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases, through the techniques that she established at the Humanitas Research Hospital in Rozzano (MI) after relocating in Italy in 2012.
Angela Ceribelli interest on epigenetics is mirrored by several publications on the role of microRNAs in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Rheumatoid Arthritis, and by the collection over the years of series of monozygotic twins both discordant and concordant for psoriatic disease, to characterize the DNA methylation signature related with psoriatic disease onset.
Angela Ceribelli interest in clinical epidemiology of autoimmunity and chronic inflammatory diseases is demonstrated by large population-based case-finding studies for serum autoantibodies (serum antinuclear and extractable nuclear antigen antibodies, anti-phospholipid antibodies, rheumatoid factor and anti-citrullinated peptides antibodies), to evaluate the risk associated with an increased probability of development of rheumatic diseases over time, through the analysis of real-life administrative databases.
