Empowering future innovators: highlights from MEDTEC Research Day 2024


On Tuesday 19th November, the MEDTEC School brought together over 50 students from different years of study to celebrate the annual MEDTEC Research Day!

The event focused on key aspects of interdisciplinary research synergies between Humanitas University and Politecnico di Milano. It was an exciting opportunity to explore new avenues in the field of biological sciences emerging from the synergy between biomedicine and engineering.

The opening of the afternoon was chaired by Prof. Luigi Maria Terracciano – Rector of Humanitas University, and Prof. Isabella Nova – Executive Vice Rector of Politecnico di Milano. The event was also enriched by the interactive session “What does MEDTEC mean to you?”, with the contributions of Prof. Alberto Guadagnini – Vice Rector for Research at Politecnico and Prof. Maria Rescigno – Vice Rector for Research at Humanitas; then, a talk by Prof. Gerardus Janszen (Department of Aerospace Science and Technology – Politecnico di Milano, and Prof. Roberto Rusconi (Department of Biomedical Science – Humanitas University).

Highlights of the MEDTEC School included students project presentations, moderated by the President of the degree course, Prof. Maria Laura Costantino, and potential research activities after graduation presented by Vice President Prof. Maurizio Cecconi.

After months of hard work and dedication, three outstanding projects were recognised by the Faculty for their innovation and impact. The winners are:

  • Giulia Grion and Kirollos Roufail – 5th-year students
  • Luca Maria Menga and Lorenzo Profeta – 6th-year students
  • Andrea Brunati – 6th-year student
