Department of Biomedical Sciences

The Department is the University body that performs the functions of organising and coordinating teaching and learning activities, as well as scientific research. The Department’s main objective is the full integration of activities related to research, teaching and learning, and third mission and healthcare. It sees the integration of these activities as an important opportunity to foster the development of new professional profiles in the scientific and clinical fields.

The Department is staffed by full and Associate Professors, Untenured Professors appointed pursuant to Law 230/2005, Tenured University Researchers and Fixed-term Researchers in service at the time the department was established.

The Department of Biomedical Sciences includes all degree programmes, residency schools, PhD programmes, first and second level specialised master programmes run by the University.

  • the expected learning outcomes and the competencies necessary to fulfil employment prospects
  • the effectiveness of the teaching and learning activity, teaching and examination methods, equipment, and the logistics system
  • the effectiveness of remedial actions and the transparency of the information published about the degree programmes

Humanitas is a highly specialized Hospital, Research and Teaching Center. Built around centers for the prevention and treatment of cancer, cardiovascular, neurological and orthopedic disease – together with an Ophthalmic Center and a Fertility Center – Humanitas also operates a highly specialised Emergency Department.
