Michela Matteoli wins the Porto Venere Donna Prize


The winner of the XXVIII edition of the Porto Venere Donna Prize is Michela Matteoli – Professor of Pharmacology at Humanitas University and Director of the Neuroscience Programme at the Istituto Clinico Humanitas.

On Wednesday, 7 August, Prof. Michela Matteoli received the prestigious award for ‘her research on synapses and neuronal circuits that have made a significant contribution to the understanding of the complex mechanisms of the human brain, paving new ways of treating neurological and psychiatric disorders’.

The prize, organised by the Provincial Women’s Council of La Spezia in collaboration with the Municipality of Portovenere, is dedicated to women who are an example to all generations, particularly the younger ones, for their literary, scientific, artistic, social, sporting, entrepreneurial and intellectual value.

Michela Matteoli joins a total of 27 women that the Provincial Women’s Council of La Spezia has honoured over the years: Elena Gianini Belotti, Margherita Hack, Paola Gassman, Luciana Savignano, Dacia Maraini, Monica Guerritore, Rita Levi Montalcini, Carla Maria Izzo, Franca Valeri, Margherita Boniver, Fiona May, Anna Maria Castelli, Carmen Lasorella, Lella Costa, Milena Gabanelli, Barbara Ensoli, Simona Marchini, Isa Danieli, Daniela Poggi, Donatella Bianchi, Evelina Christillin, Amalia Ercoli Finzi, Pia Donata Berlucchi, Giovanna Botteri, Speranza Scapucci and Lucia Sorrentino Zanello.
