Professor Marco Montorsi, Rector of Humanitas University, has been awarded the Honorary Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons


The American College of Surgeons (ACS), the largest organization of surgeons in the world, has conferred the Honorary Fellowship to Professor Marco Montorsi, Rector of Humanitas University. The honour was awarded on 16th October at the 2022 Clinical Congress held in San Diego, California (USA).

The Honorary Fellowship is awarded annually to a select number of surgeons from around the world who have distinguished themselves for their academic qualifications, and clinical and scientific contributions.

The ACS, founded in 1913, is an educational organization that brings together more than 80,000 surgeons from all over the world with the aim of improving the quality of surgical practice.

Since ACS was founded, over 500 international surgeons have received the award and only 14 of them are Italian, namely: Raffaele Bastianelli in 1918, Vittorio Putti in 1925, Roberto Alessandri in 1926, Mario Dogliotti in 1951, Pietro Valdoni in 1955, Giambattista Bietti in 1968, Umberto Veronesi in 1998, Sergio Pecorelli in 2005, Nicola Scopinaro in 2007, Alberto Montori in 2011, Renzo Dionigi in 2017, Franco Mosca in 2018, Antonio Di Cataldo in 2020 and, today, Marco Montorsi.
